When I was in the UK, I always thought that it would cause more terror if they drove a car bomb into the middle of the village I lived in (or any of the thousands like it), on a Friday night and blew it up and took out the two packed pubs.

Incidentally, the state of emergency was to last until 26th of July, to include the TdF.
If it's limited to nutters in lorries (French media are reporting guns and grenades in the lorry, potentially more than one vehicle), I'm not sure how you can police that.
